"Services like Twitter and Tumblr are brimming with a wide range of interesting people saying interesting, funny or provacative things…These tools, that some dismiss as as waste of time, have proven to be a great resource for exposing us to ideas that we’re interested in. They amplify trends we’re tracking and markets as they move. But, most importantly, they give us rich context for the people behind them."

I’ve had similar experiences over the past few months meeting people IRL that I’ve followed or interacted with on Twitter and Tumblr and I would echo all of Bryce’s points. It’s incredible how powerful these services are at turning cold connections into real, meaningful interactions.
